In an industry that’s known for being the second largest polluter in the world, Escalier is taking steps to become more environmentally sustainable. 2⁄3 of the impact on the environment starts from the raw materials stage - before the clothes have actually been made. The stages of fiber selection determine how you grow, wash, and potentially recycle the garments one day. This is why we’ve decided to use TENCEL which is a more ethical and eco-friendly fiber.
TENCEL is a cellulose fiber, which is sourced from wood pulp - a natural raw material. Itrequires less energy and water than cotton to manufacture and is biodegradable because it is anaturally derived fiber. This is a huge deal since most garments take 30 - 40 years to degrade back into the earth- not including synthetic clothing that takes 200 years.
They are also known for their natural comfort and ability to combine with a range of textile fibers such as cotton, polyester, wool and silk. They are used to enhance the aesthetics and functionality of fabrics due to their unique properties which include moisture absorption, breathability, gentleness to the skin and fiber strength. Our goal is to continue to lessen our carbon footprint on the earth while making sure you look and feel your best.
